My name is Mihiri Kotikawatta and I am one of the lucky scholarship recipients of the Chula Vista Rotary Jerry Rindone Scholarship for 2017-18! I'm a student at the University of California San Diego majoring in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations. I'm originally from Sri Lanka and moved to the United States when I was less than one years old! Being exposed to the international community through my culture and through living in Chula Vista, from a young age, I have always known that I wanted to work globally. Currently, I aspire to be a diplomat or international lawyer! In my junior year of highschool, I was lucky to be selected as a delegate to RYLA. There at RYLA, I was introduced to Rotary International and have found so much inspiration andhope from hearing about all the good work Rotarians do and aspire to one day be a dedicated Rotarian myself.

At UCSD I am a part of the Rotaract UCSD Club, Sangam Student Association, and Cultural Committee Board for UCSD's annual South Asian Cultural Show. Aside from being a student, I enjoy hiking with friends, travel blogging and making YouTube videos that give advice to high school students! I am forever grateful for the gift the Chula Vista Rotary Club gave me and give my utmost gratitude!
