Red Shoe Day registration is open! We look forward to an incredible morning with amazing volunteers like you - individuals and groups having fun while raising funds to help San Diego's Ronald McDonald House provide a "home away from home" for families with a hospitalized child.

• From the menu bar at the top of the Support Red Shoe Day website, click on Join or Start a Team.  
• Scroll down "Find an existing team to join" and type Chula Vista Rotary Club in the search bar.
• From the drop down menu that appears, click on "Chula Vista Rotary Club."
• A pop-up window will appear. Click on "Join the Team" in the pop-up window. 
• Follow the prompts to complete your registration. 
• You can also sign up to use social media sights to request donations from family and friends.

Joint us for President Mark Scott's inaugural meeting as head honcho for 2022-2023 .

Maximum fishermen on the boat is 20.  The deposit cost per fisherman of $50 can be given to Gary Bryant at a Rotary meeting.  Your spot WILL NOT be reserved until Gary receives a deposit, which means it will go to someone else if we are oversubscribed. 

Breakfast, lunch, water and soda are included. Beer available for a cost. BYOB if you prefer. No large ice chests!

We may fish in Mexican waters, so BRING YOUR PASSPORT.

You will NEED A CALIFORNIA FISHING LICENSE.

Fishing rods, gear, etc. available for $25 or bring your own.

Dress in layers, and wear non-skid shoes. Don't forget SUNSCREEN.

Bring some cash so you can tip the deck crew, especially if you have them process your fish. 

Bring your spouse and a friend or two to our first social event of the year at the home of President Mark and Stacy. Drinks start at 5 p.m., and chow down on some tasty Mexican fare from the Taco Guy at 6 p.m. Enjoy a game of ping-pong, bocce ball, or simply sit around and enjoy the camaraderie with a view. You're welcome to bring a dessert, but we only need a few.

A club assembly is a regular meeting of the club, but without a scheduled program. Club assemblies are an opportunity to discuss our club’s programs and activities and educate members. New members particularly are encouraged to attend to learn more about the workings of our club. Club assemblies are held several times a year to ensure clear communication between club leaders and club members.

Mr. Whiteley started his career in personal protection as a bodyguard for Hollywood's most elite actors and actresses.  From Tom Cruise in 1984, to Charlie Sheen, Clint Eastwood, John Cusack, Kevin Costner, Sigourney Weaver, Pamela Anderson, John Travolta, and many others in addition to his favorite and good friend Patrick Swayze.

Chuck has been a member of the San Diego Rotary Club ("Club 33") since 1992. He found his niche hosting exchange students. He and his wife have hosted half a dozen students throughout the years. In Club 33 he chaired numerous committees including Camp Enterprise, Project Allocations & Grants, and Youth Exchange. He served as President in 2013-14 and then Chair of the Club 33's foundation the following year. Before becoming District 5340 Governor for the 2022-2023 Rotary year, Chuck served at the district level as District Conference Chair, Chief of Staff, Rotaract Chair, Chief Aide and upcoming Chief Assistant Governor.

Big Table exists to see the lives of those working in the restaurant and hospitality industry transformed by building community and caring for those who are in crisis, transition, or falling through the cracks.

Jessie Vigil is Big Table's San Diego City Director. Jesse’s life experiences include a stint in the Navy, pulling rabbits from a hat, and life as a youth director.  His latest trick is caring for restaurant and hotel employees through Big Table.  His passion for food includes decorating cakes, and an ongoing quest to find the best pizza, burger, and fish taco in San Diego.  He enjoys watching the Padre’s, taking staycations with his wife, and eating Trader Joe’s Reduced Guilt crackers.

Youth for Climate empowers youth to become climate leaders working together for an equitable, sustainable and resilient future.

Lori Holt Pfeiler, a housing champion and longtime community leader, is President and CEO of the Building Industry Association of San Diego County, the organization has announced.

“I believe deeply in the transformative power of housing, and the ripple effects it has,” Holt Pfeiler said. “I have seen the success a stable home can provide a family – for generations. As the new leader of the BIA, I look forward to putting my efforts to work to influence change that helps create thousands of homes in our region at all income levels. Improving the supply of housing and advocating for efficient and effective changes in the building process are important steps I’ll pursue. My affordable housing expertise will complement the work of traditional home builders, with the ultimate goal of making our region an even better place for families and business.”

Holt Pfeiler replaces retiring CEO Borre Winckel, who led the BIA for 13 years. Winckel’s last day is July 16. Holt Pfeiler starts July 6.

Tackling the region’s housing affordability crisis tops her priority list, she said, pointing out that across our region homes are built at the high end and the low end and nothing in the middle. That has created numerous problems, including long Riverside County to San Diego County commutes, soaring rents, and forcing seniors to stay in place.
