Urban Street Angels
Urban Street Angel's mission is to end youth homelessness by providing supportive housing and job training opportunities to cultivate personal responsibility.
Urban Street Angels is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2012 to help tackle youth homelessness in the San Diego, California area.
We began as a small group of volunteers hitting the streets of San Diego several times a month with backpacks of supplies and home-cooked meals. We quickly discovered that San Diego has many organizations and resources dedicated to feeding and supplying the homeless, but very few geared to young adults. Particularly, a key service was missing: supportive housing and job training programs for transition-aged youth (“TAY”, 18 – 25 years old) to help them off the streets with a hand up.
Request for support from the Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club. Forwarded below is an email from Rahul Wadhwa, who was our host during our trip to India last year, regarding a request for help in funding the COVID-19 Support Kit for distribution in Agra, India. His club has been working with the Chief Medical Officer in Agra to determine the best thing to do to help people in this crisis. One of the big problems is that when someone tests positive, they have been flooding the hospitals and medical centers which has resulting in the system being overwhelmed. These kits encourage people to stay home and quarantine and allow them to monitor their temperature and oxygen levels. As long as they are not in critical stages, it is much better to stay home.
In partnership with the County of San Diego, Sharp HealthCare is operating COVID-19 vaccination superstations in the South Bay, East County, central San Diego, and San Marcos in support of our community. Medical volunteers are needed to administer vaccinations. Volunteers are needed to help staff the sites and administer vaccinations while providing The Sharp Experience.
