The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum, San Diego houses exhibits to inform and educate on the role of Navy Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT) and Sea, Air, Land (SEAL) teams. This Friday, we welcome Cierra Johnson with Circulate San Diego. She will tell us about their activities and share “How to do a Walk Audit.” The mission of Circulate San Diego is to create excellent mobility choices and vibrant, healthy neighborhoods. They are committed to a well-funded public transit system that is competitive with the automobile. They support dedicating existing right of way to ensure that transit can run efficiently and fast along our already-built highways and surface streets. Circulate San Diego is a longtime advocate for making our streets safe for walking, bicycling, and other modes. Much of their walking and bicycling advocacy is focused on Vision Zero, an effort to end all traffic fatalities and serious injuries. Vision Zero is a part of a national movement to advocate for safe engineering of our streets, enforcement of safety laws by the police, and educating the public about traffic safety. |

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, Rotary District 5340 Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force will be having a work morning at a local recovery home in the South Bay. We will be working inside the house (cleaning and repair), and in the yard, improving landscaping and providing needed clean-up. These work events are vital to support the facility and to show the residents that people can be kind. No special skills are needed - just a good spirit and willingness to work. If you are interested, please contact Kimberly Schafer (kschafer108@gmail.com). Due to the need to keep the location confidential and a clear list of volunteers, each volunteer will need to contact Kim to sign up. The location will be shared with volunteers in the week prior to April 27, and must be kept confidential. |
