Want to know about all the construction happening at Southwestern College? Superintendent/President Dr. Mark Sanchez and Director of Facilities and Operations, Aurora Ayala, will provide an exciting update on all the exciting projects coming online, including a University Center, improved botanical garden, and new Student Center. They will also share future plans. You won’t want to miss this informative program!

San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister, who has served in office since 2002, is available to present to civic and community groups. He can provide attendees with an overview of the department, status of bill collection, and tips on how to streamline property tax payments. Topics include:  

·       San Diego’s economic outlook 

·       Updates on the housing market 

·       What does property tax collection mean to your community? 

·       How does not paying your property taxes affect our economy? 

Beautify Chula Vista Day is a dynamic community cleanup event organized by the City of Chula Vista and the South Bay Sustainable Communities Network and made strong by thousands of enthusiastic volunteers. Now celebrating its 20th year in 2023, this event has made an extensive impact on the City of Chula Vista as a whole, having reached dozens of focus areas with plans to continue on its path to make a difference for the future.  Each year continues to be successful with the help of our dedicated volunteers who continue to beautify Chula Vista, one project at a time!

In 2022, volunteers came out to help remove over 10,000 pounds of debris! Volunteers also painted out the graffiti, planted hundreds of plants, and removed litter throughout neighborhoods and canyons.

We will be meeting at the Sweetwater River Channel under the HWY 54 overpass North 2nd Ave, Chula Vista (next to the Chula Vista KOA).

Christmas In October is a volunteer program that provides home improvement repairs at no cost or obligation to low-income homeowners within the City of Chula Vista. This program combines the good will of volunteers with donated materials and contributions from local supply companies, businesses and supporters. The intent of the program is to assist homeowners in partnership with family and community members to make needed health and safety repairs.

Please note that due to construction at Rady Children’s Hospital, they ask that all volunteers park offsite.  Parking address is 3678 Aero Ct., San Diego.  There is no parking fee.  A shuttle runs to and from the “House” every 10 minutes.
