Welcome to our Rotary Club!

Dear Rotarians, future Rotarians or just the plain curious,
Welcome to the website of the Chula Vista Rotary. We are a Rotary club of 80+ members which have dedicated themselves to do Service Above Self. Rotary is about giving back to society and we do that through Community projects and International projects,  one of  being the eradication of Polio worldwide and much more...
Please visit our photo albums on this page to get an idea of what we do…and please visit us at one of our Friday meetings at noon. Send me an email and we will host your lunch.
Looking forward seeing you!

Providing a home for a family in need in Tijuana is one of the most rewarding international projects we do. This year we had several folks who were helping for the first time. Project Mercy again provided expert direction and Carmen Sandoval organized a great meal. The day was long but the weather was nice. The children of the Rotarians had a great time playing with the neighborhood kids.  Afterwards, several of us went to Tecate and had a fine meal just off the plaza.  We even went to the local Panderia and purchased some delectable pastries to bring home.

Mark Scott welcomed a few hardy workers to his home to assemble this year's Senior Baskets.  Canned goods, and other foodstuffs along with toiletries were donated by club members and collected the last two club meetings. Jan Mellinger purchased 26 sets of various items to assure each family received a good variety. After assembly, the baskets (bags, really) were delivered to selected tenants at Congregational Tower.  The Tower is an affordable housing 186 unit 16 story building in downtown Chula Vista for qualified low income seniors. Those participating were: Mark Scott, Marty Adler, Richard Arroyo, Jan Mellinger, Mauricio Lutteroth, Michael Monaco, Michael's daughter and Mark's children.

This year over 35 Rotarians and family members gathered to help prepare and serve the evening meal at Ronald McDonald House.  Joining the club members was the Choir of Southwestern College who performed a wonderful Christmas program for the families of children being treated across the street at the Rady Childrens Hospital. Please see the Photo Album on this page.

On December 9, 2014, approximately 60 volunteers gathered at a warehouse east of Brown Field to assemble 244 bicycles for young children distributed through several organizations including Salvation Army, Ronald McDonald House, South Bay YMCA, and others   Representatives from Kiwanis, the Boy Scouts and other volunteer groups joined 25 Rotarians and their families for over three hours.  This is one of the most rewarding projects the Community Projects Committee organizes each year.

The club Newsletter, "Chulatarian" is published weekly.  It provides meeting program information for the next club meeting and reviews the immediate past meeting.  There are also frequent articles of interest and notices of special events supported by the club.  The editor is John Clingan.  He can be reached at The most recent newsletters are shown on this page on the right side under "Download Files".  They are numbered by their date.
