As Rotarians, we are dedicated to six areas of focus: supporting education; saving mothers and children, growing local economies; fighting disease; providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene; and promoting peace. Our club strives to make an impact in our local community and internationally. A few of our favorite projects are shown here.

Youth Programs

We believe in developing the next generation of leaders. Our programs help younger leaders build leadership skills, expand education, and learn the value of service. Through the Chula Vista Rotary Foundation, we invest in our future leaders and philanthropists by funding scholarships for undergraduate study. Our member-supported Foundation also sponsors leadership development programs for local middle and high school students who want to learn new skills, build their confidence, and have fun.

Tijuana Home Build

Our service does not stop at the city’s limits. One of the most popular club projects is an annual venture to build a home from the ground up for a family without adequate shelter in Tijuana. In conjunction with Poway-based Project Mercy and in-kind donations from local businesses, club members construct a home that, for many families, may be the first they have ever lived in with a proper floor or a secure door.

Christmas in October

Each October, Chula Vista Rotarians arm themselves with hammers, paint brushes, rakes and other tools to spend a day repairing a home in west Chula Vista. Working alongside local businesses and volunteers, we provide an early Christmas gift by improving the homes of those on a low or fixed income, including veterans, the elderly and disabled.

Bike Assembly

Our club's annual Bike Assembly over the years has purchased and assembled more than a thousand bicycles and helmets to give away to disadvantaged children in the Chula Vista area during the holidays. Started as a modest idea that saw a handful of bikes built and given away its first year, it has grown to the point that hundreds of bicycles are put together and donated every year.

We have more than just a local or regional impact. Together with the more than 1.2 million members of Rotary International, Chula Vista Rotarians have helped bring polio to the brink of eradication across the world.

A paralyzing and potentially deadly infectious disease, polio most commonly affects children under the age of 5.  As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, Rotary International has reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent since its first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979.

So far, we've helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children in 122 countries, and Rotary has contributed more than $1.8 billion toward eradicating the disease worldwide.
