Author Bio for Bob Boze Bob is a diverse author and editor with five published books: his autobiography - Love is a Pretty Girl with a Cape to Share Your Dreams With, his romance trilogy - Horses of Tir Na Nog, and a fourth romance novel - The Beach Pool. His writing partner, Robyn Bennett (pen name Casey Fae Hewson), another romance writer, editor and administration trainer, lives in New Zealand. Robyn has two published romance novels, Haven River and Aqua Bay, and a business book, Minute Taking Madness. Together, Bob and Robyn have co-authored and published Light My Way, a romance novel and a business book - How Not to Fail in Business Without Really Trying, dealing with how to successfully open and operate a small business. In addition, each has several published short stories in the San Diego Writers and Editors Guild Anthologies. Originally from New York, Bob is an avid reader, reviewer, beta reader and guest speaker and blogger on several web sites. His travels have covered most of the world and he has lived in London, England, Istanbul, Turkey, Houston and San Antonio, Texas, Los Angeles and Paso Robles, California; before finally calling San Diego, home. Bob’s education includes: Studies in Creative Writing, Literature, English Literature and English at NYU, William and Mary, University of Maryland and the University of Delaware. He holds a dual BS degree in Electronic Engineering in Systems Design and Development and Project Management from Northrop University. Bob has been an Information Volunteer, Interpretative Volunteer (Docent) and Volunteer Mentor at the San Diego Zoo for over 25 years. He is also an active member of the San Diego Writers and Editors Guild (SDWEG), San Diego Professional Editors Network (SDPEN) and Romance Writers of America - San Diego (RWASD). He and Robyn also participate in local and international writer’s events and signings such as: The San Diego Festival of Books fair, San Diego Library Book Festival and Local Authors Award Program, the La Jolla Writers Conference, the New Zealand Romance Writers Conference and the upcoming Dublin Ireland Writers Conference. |

Jose L. Cruz CEO, San Diego Council on Literacy
Jose Cruz is the chief executive officer for the San Diego Council on Literacy, a model urban literacy coalition. He has 34 years of experience in the literacy field and is in his 13th year as his organization’s CEO. He is the recipient of the 2003 Union-Tribune, “Educator of the Year” award, past-president of the National Alliance of Urban Literacy Coalitions, and past-president of the San Diego Branch of the Orton Dyslexia Society. In 2014, he was recognized by The Union-Tribune as the Latino Civic Leader of the Year. He currently serves as a board officer for ProLiteracy, the largest literacy organization in the world, and is the host of wsRadio’s “Literacy For All Radio Show”, which is broadcast live from San Diego to support literacy efforts across the nation.

Biography of Dan McAllister San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister has served San Diego County residents as the County’s Treasurer-Tax Collector since 2002. He was reelected to his fifth term in June 2018 by an overwhelming 100% of the vote. Dan oversees the collection of more than $6 billion in property taxes each year, the management of $11.6 billion in the County’s Investment Pool, and the administration of the County’s $1.5 billion defined contribution program. Since assuming office, he has worked extensively to improve customer service, enhance communications and outreach initiatives, and ensure the fiscal stability of the treasury. Under his direction, his office collected a record high 60% of property tax payments electronically, while maintaining a 99% collection rate for the past four years. He is also a strong advocate for diversity, a value reflected in his staff that comes from all walks of life and backgrounds. His office now delivers service in 17 different languages. As part of his duties, Dan serves as a member of the San Diego County Employees Retirement Association (SDCERA), which manages more than $10 billion of investments; he also serves on the board of CalTRUST, which has a portfolio of $2.8 billion, and is president of the State Association of County Retirement Systems (SACRS). Dan is a former board of directors’ chair of the internationally recognized San Diego Convention Center Corporation. Prior to his election as San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector, Dan was a successful financial consultant and investment broker. Dan contributes considerable time and resources to community service. He serves as Chair of the San Diego Unified School District’s Special Audit and Finance Committee, and he is a participating member of the Boards of Directors of the Jackie Robinson YMCA; Habitat for Humanity, San Diego; and New Americans Museum, San Diego. McAllister’s strong commitment and involvement in the community date back to his service as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in the Western Pacific country of Micronesia. A second-generation San Diegan, Dan has completed executive education programs in portfolio concepts and management at Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree (BA) from California State University, Fresno, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from United States International University.
